چکیده

A Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET) is Multi Administrative Domain (MAD) if each network node belongs to an independent authority, that is each node owns its resources and there is no central authority owning all network nodes. One of the main obstructions in designing Service Advertising, Discovery and Delivery (SADD) protocol for MAD MANETs is the fact that, in an attempt to increase their own visibility, network nodes tend to flood the network with their advertisements. In this paper, we present a SADD protocol for MAD MANET, based on Bloom filters, that effectively prevents advertising floods due to such misbehaving nodes. ∗corresponding author

Service*: Distributed Service Advertisement for Multi-Service, Multi-Hop MANET Environments

We consider the problem of service advertisement when multiple services are available in a MANET. We present Service*, a novel distributed service advertisement protocol that uses a push-based mechanism to optimally place services in a dynamically selected subset of available nodes, called brokers. Such a dynamic arrangement of broker nodes is shown to have good scalability characteristics as t...

A novel efficient power-saving MAC protocol for multi-hop MANETs

Following recent advances in the performance of ad hoc networks, the limited life of batteries in mobile devices poses a bottleneck in their development. Consequently, how to minimize power consumption in the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer of ad hoc networks is an essential issue. The power-saving mode (PSM) of IEEE 802.11 involves the Timing Synchronization Function to reduce power consumpt...

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...

MESH: multi-eye spiral-hopping routing protocol in a wireless ad hoc network

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a characterized by multi-hop wireless links, absence of any cellular infrastructure, and frequent host mobility. Existing MANET routing protocols are divided into location-aware and non-locationaware routing protocols. In a location-aware routing protocol, location information can be exploited to facilitate routing. Our protocol, namely multi-eye spiral-hoppin...

Issues and Challenges Involved in Multipath Routing with Dymo Protocol

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a wireless network in which nodes, in the absence of fixed access points, communicate via single or multi-hop paths. Each node in a MANET should thus be able to perform necessary routing functions, and a MANET routing protocol should be able to adapt fast and effectively to sudden changes in network layout. Multipath routing allows the establishment of multipl...
